A foreign citizen whose country grants permanent residence to Filipinos may apply for an Immigrant Visa by Marriage. Also sometimes called spousal or marriage visa, this is issued to foreign citizens who are validly married to a Filipino citizen under Philippine law. It may therefore be useful to consult a Philippine lawyer if your marriage is valid under Philippine law.

If you are applying for a marriage visa, you must must prove that:

• You contracted a valid marriage with a Philippine citizen.

• Your marriage is recognized as valid under existing Philippine laws.

• There is no record of any derogatory information against ypu in any local or foreign law enforcement agency.

• You are not afflicted with any dangerous, contagious or loathsome disease.

• You have sufficient financial capacity to support a family and will not become a public burden.

• You are allowed entry into the Philippines and was authorized by Immigration authorities to stay.
